How to download E-PAN card?

The Permanent Account Number or PAN is an important document issued by the Income Tax Department of India in order to identify the taxpayers in the country. It is a 10 digit unique identification alphanumeric number assigned to the Indian taxpayers.

The objective of the PAN is to prevent and identify the tax evasion of individuals and entities by linking the transactions made by the said individuals or entities to their PAN. This link helps the Tax department to maintain a thorough record of all transactions for the purpose of tax collection. The PAN system of identification is a computer-based system which makes the process of recording transactions so much easier.

Any Indian resident, NRI (Non-Resident Indian), OCI (Overseas Citizen of India), PIO (Person of Indian Origin) and any foreigner who comes under the ambit of the Income Tax act of 1961 are all eligible to apply for a PAN card in India. Apart from this, firms, companies, governments and even minors can apply for a PAN card. A PAN card can be used for filing IT returns, making investments, applying for a credit or debit card, opening a new bank account, proof of identity, loans, insurance payments, etc.
